Who we are?
The Agroindustrial Development Program (Proagroin) is a private foundation created in 1997 as a result of the Debt Conversion Agreement signed between the governments of Costa Rica and Netherlands. The objective of this program is to promote the enhancement of the life quality of small and medium farmers and their families in the north region of the country.
This objective can be accomplished through the cultivation and commercialization of products with a higher added value as well as the strengthening of skills and capacities to develop agroindustrial, agricultural and service companies.
With this purpose, the Program gives financial, technical and institutional support in an atmosphere of social democratization, environmental sustainability and economic profits.
The Program has developed the logistic capacity needed to export, in competitive terms, the farmer’s high quality products to different markets such as Europe, USA and Canada.
In order to accomplish their objectives, the organization has interdependent programs established in a horizontal organizational structure in which the farmers, the government and agricultural institutions take part in the decision making process.
The organization is oriented to teamwork and tries to join efforts with any institutions, organizations and companies that share the same objectives. |
